At North Idaho Aussies, we are dedicated to breeding exceptional AKC-registered Australian Shepherds. Every one of our dogs is named after a special place in Alaska, a tribute to our deep-rooted connection to the 49th state. While our home base is in North Idaho, our heritage and love for the Last Frontier run strong.
A great puppy starts with great parents, which is why we focus on health, temperament, and quality in our breeding program. Our dogs are family first, they are never kept in kennels but instead live alongside us, receiving the attention, training, and care they deserve. Daily life includes off-leash hikes, on-leash training, obedience work, playtime, and plenty of love. Happy, well-socialized parents create confident, well-adjusted puppies.
Raising puppies the right way takes dedication. From early socialization to maintaining a clean and enriching environment, we put in the time and effort to ensure each puppy leaves our home ready to thrive in yours. Our goal is to provide you with a well-rounded, loving companion that fits seamlessly into your family.
When you bring home a North Idaho Aussie, you’re not just getting a puppy, you’re gaining a lifelong adventure partner, raised with purpose and care.
Despite its name, the Australian Shepherd is a true all-American breed, originally developed to work on ranches in the western United States. Over time, Aussies have proven their versatility, not only excelling as hardworking ranch dogs but also thriving in showings and as beloved family companions.
These dogs are smart, independent thinkers but highly trainable, making them a great match for active owners. Aussies need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, which is why we spend time outdoors with ours every day. Whether it’s hiking, camping, or exploring the backcountry, they’re always up for an adventure!
At North Idaho Aussies, our dogs carry names inspired by the beautiful landscapes of Alaska and Idaho, two places close to our hearts, where we spend time each year. Our Aussies specialize in shed hunting and foraging for morel mushrooms, but they’re just as eager to learn new tricks, chase a frisbee, or tackle any challenge that keeps their minds engaged. For an Aussie, mental stimulation is just as important as physical activity—they thrive on having a job to do!

When we are at our home in Idaho we can meet you in-person in Coeur d'Alene, Spokane, or another prearranged location. You can have us bring him or her to the Spokane International Airport where you can pick your pup up as well. During the summer months and holidays we travel often and can work out arrangements to meet you along the way as well.
When we are in Alaska we can meet you from Girdwood to Talkeetna or possible other prearranged locations. We can also bring your pup to the Anchorage International Airport to be picked up or have it shipped via air cargo, or you can arrange a flight nanny to bring it to you. AK Airlines Pet Cargo travels all over remote AK. Another method of shipping is ground transport using a shipper, link listed below. We are very open to helping you figure out the best option for you. We can bring your pup to the vet to get a Health Certificate for air travel, and set them up with an appropriate kennel for traveling in. If you are not picking up in person and are using an alternative method listed above we do ask that you are the one to set it up and pay for it.
Extra costs if not being picked up in person:
- Actual price of shipping (use resources below to help figure that out)
- Travel Health Vet Certificate for flying
- Cost of kennel

Meeting Your Puppy:
Parvovirus is extremely common the the PNW due to our climate and we take it very seriously. It causes gastrointestinal illness and can cause symptoms like bloody diarrhea, anorexia/loss of appetite, vomiting, weight loss, dehydration, lethargy/weakness, and so much more. Because it is a virus that causes issues in a dog’s intestines, parvo is spread through contact with an infected dog or person that has been around an infected dog (knowing or unknowingly) You can pick the virus up on your clothing as easily as walking through the grass in a dog park. This make puppies extremely vulnerable, in their infinitely cute ways they tend to explore the world with their mouths and are more likely to contract the virus through eating or licking anything they touch.
We do understand that when someone buys a puppy there is the excitement of bringing home your furever friend! We have a couple basic rules that we go by before the puppies go to their new homes.
RULES:
- We do not do in person meeting with puppies until they have had their first vaccinations at 6 weeks of age.
- We don't meet at dog parks. (to much of a chance of picking up parvo)
- We ask that you use hand sanitizer before holding them.
- What we can do for you! We can Facetime or take as many videos/pictures of the puppies for you as you want!
Our number one goal with our puppies is they are going to an extremely good home and we 100% do our part to make sure when you get your puppy it is healthy and ready for its new life adventure.
Each puppy is raised in our home, and ready for your home by 8 weeks of age.
The price of your puppy also includes:
- AKC paperwork to register with limited registration (non breeding) unless full rights are purchased.
- First vaccines and deworming has been done at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks of age (WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO CONTINUE THIS UNTIL THEY ARE 16 WEEKS OF AGE.)
- Complimentary 30-day pet insurance plan with AKC
- Well-started on potty training, crate training and the basic commands.
- Puppy food
- Health guarantee
