All our dogs are named after special places in Alaska. Our home base is out of North Idaho but our families heritage runs deep in the 49th state. A normal day at North Idaho Aussies includes many hours of hard work. A great puppy starts with great parents, we look at health, temperament, and quality. Happy parents play a huge role in healthy and happy puppies. Tons of attention, off-leash walks, hikes, on-leash training, brushing, and obedience training are all in a day's routine for our adult dogs. Our pets are NOT kept in kennels. They are part of our family, which requires many hands and lots of hard work. Plus all the time cleaning and sanitizing to ensure a healthy, clean and happy environment! Our puppies join your family well socialized and tolerant of new environments. We strive for the best, which requires an extensive amount of time and investment, and in return produces your perfect puppy!
The Australian Shepherd is actually an all-American dog, bred to work on ranches out west. Over the years it has transitioned into many other arenas including show and family life. They are independent but easy to train, they tend to need a lot of exercise and an energetic owner, too. We spend time with ours in the outdoors every single day! They love hiking and camping. Aussies are incredibly intelligent and can be taught almost anything. All our pups have Alaska and Idaho names, we split our time in both places every year. Our aussies specialize in shed hunting and finding morel mushrooms! They also enjoy learning new tricks and chasing a frisbee. Mental stimulation is just as important to them as physical. They live for a challenge no matter what the activity is!

We have two kennel locations, our primary located is in North Idaho in the beautiful town of St. Maries. The second is located over 2800 miles away in Eagle River, Alaska. We spend part of the year in both locations.
Prices are set per puppy when placed online for adoption. Prices vary based on color, and coat markings. As of 2023, current prices range from $1000 - $2500 for limited AKC registration. Any dog purchased regardless of sex, color or markings that is being sold with full AKC rights will cost $4000. Details are in the puppy contract that you receive with your puppy. We accept cash, Venmo and credit card (3.5% fee will be added with a card).
When we are at our home in Idaho we can meet you in-person in Coeur d'Alene, Spokane, or another prearranged location. You can have us bring him or her to the Spokane International Airport where you can pick your pup up as well. During the summer months and holidays we travel often and can work out arrangements to meet you along the way as well.
When we are in Alaska we can meet you from Girdwood to Talkeetna or possible other prearranged locations. We can also bring your pup to the Anchorage International Airport to be picked up or have it shipped via air cargo, or you can arrange a flight nanny to bring it to you. AK Airlines Pet Cargo travels all over remote AK. Another method of shipping is ground transport using a shipper, link listed below. We are very open to helping you figure out the best option for you. We can bring your pup to the vet to get a Health Certificate for air travel, and set them up with an appropriate kennel for traveling in. If you are not picking up in person and are using an alternative method listed above we do ask that you are the one to set it up and pay for it.
Extra costs if not being picked up in person:
- Actual price of shipping (use resources below to help figure that out)
- Travel Health Vet Certificate for flying
- Cost of kennel

Meeting Your Puppy:
Parvovirus is extremely common the the PNW due to our climate and we take it very seriously. It causes gastrointestinal illness and can cause symptoms like bloody diarrhea, anorexia/loss of appetite, vomiting, weight loss, dehydration, lethargy/weakness, and so much more. Because it is a virus that causes issues in a dog’s intestines, parvo is spread through contact with an infected dog or person that has been around an infected dog (knowing or unknowingly) You can pick the virus up on your clothing as easily as walking through the grass in a dog park. This make puppies extremely vulnerable, in their infinitely cute ways they tend to explore the world with their mouths and are more likely to contract the virus through eating or licking anything they touch.
We do understand that when someone buys a puppy there is the excitement of bringing home your furever friend! We have a couple basic rules that we go by before the puppies go to their new homes.
RULES:
- We do not do in person meeting with puppies until they have had their first vaccinations at 6 weeks of age.
- We don't meet at dog parks. (to much of a chance of picking up parvo)
- We ask that you use hand sanitizer before holding them.
- What we can do for you! We can Facetime or take as many videos/pictures of the puppies for you as you want!
Our number one goal with our puppies is they are going to an extremely good home and we 100% do our part to make sure when you get your puppy it is healthy and ready for its new life adventure.
Each puppy is raised in our home, and ready for your home by 8 weeks of age.
The price of your puppy also includes:
- AKC paperwork to register with limited registration (non breeding) unless full rights are purchased.
- First vaccines and deworming has been done at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks of age (WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO CONTINUE THIS UNTIL THEY ARE 16 WEEKS OF AGE.)
- Complimentary 30-day pet insurance plan with AKC
- Well-started on potty training, crate training and the basic commands.
- Puppy food
- Health guarantee
- Toy or blanket with mom's scent
